It was during the Montreal Olympic Games 1976 that she had one of the most unforgettable moments in sports history and that was the very first perfect 10 on the asymmetrical bars. Furthermore, she had six other perfect 10s and made her fourteen years young the youngest Olympic medalist across all categories. In addition to attracting the attention of others, but she also helped Romania become a household name. In achieving an unachievable result she became an iconic image and helped promote gymnastics across the globe. The public's opinion of women athletes was changed due to this feat. The effect she had on Olympics was so significant it is that 2 of her moves including the toe-on and release have been designated in honor of her.
